Regenerative Medicine

Our bodies have built-in healing responses to injuries and diseases. As we age, our body’s ability to self-repair diminishes. That’s what makes scientifically advanced products like RHEO™ so exciting in the treatment of chronic pain. RHEO is cryopreserved biologic tissue that’s created from amniotic fluid and placental membrane. In other words, it replaces the tissue our bodies would create if they could, stimulating a patient’s natural ability to decrease pain and inflammation.

Amniotic and placental cells are “blank slates” that can become any type of specialized tissue such as nerve, bone, muscle, and skin. Inserting them in patients with heart failure, for example, to regenerate and repair the damaged tissue has made dramatic improvements on the quality of patients’ lives. It has also been successful with treating blood cancer and bone and tendon damage. With over fifty years of research, going back to the first bone marrow transplant in 1968, regenerative medicine therapies offer unprecedented opportunities, particularly in treating conditions that cause chronic pain as well as degenerative diseases.

RHEO is processed and manufactured in accordance with the FDA to ensure it meets the standards for safety and efficacy. Regenerative medicine therapies with RHEO can help improve your quality of life by treating a variety of pain-inducing conditions such as:

•     Joint or muscle damage
•     Sports injuries, rotator cuff issues and tendonitis
•     Slow or nonhealing wounds
•     Osteoarthritis
•     Back pain
•     Ligament injury
•     Fasciopathy including Plantar Fasciitis
•     Degenerative disc disease
•     Epicondylitis
•     Hip bursitis
•     Relief of chronic pain and inflammation

Your physician at Pain Management Consultants can determine if RHEO is right for you.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet activation plays a key role in the body’s natural healing process. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses concentrated injections of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. PRP injections are prepared by taking anywhere from one to a few tubes of a patient’s own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into the injured or diseased body tissue. This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells the body produces. Ultrasound imaging is sometimes used to guide the injection.

Conditions effectively treated by PRP therapy include musculoskeletal injuries, osteoarthritic inflammation, “runner’s knee,” and others. PRP can reduce the need for anti-inflammatories or stronger medications like opioids. Because they’re made using patients’ own blood, there are very limited if any side effects. Ultimately, the efficacy of PRP is dependent on the quality of the patient’s corporal resources, in this case the health of the platelets and plasma.

Platelet rich plasma injections are most effective for:

•     Osteoarthritis of the Knee, Shoulder, Hip & Spine
•     Rotator Cuff Strains & Tears
•     Shoulder Pain & Instability
•     Achilles Tendonitis & Plantar Fasciitis
•     Pelvic Pain & Instability
•     Back & Neck Injuries/Pain
•     Tennis Elbow
•     Tendonitis & Ligament Sprains
•     Chronic Knee Pain
•     Muscle Strains
•     Hamstring & Hip Strains
•     Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Your physician at Pain Management Consultants can determine if PRP Therapy is right for you.
